Hemp fiber is an ancient and very important plant fiber, used for centuries in many parts of the world. Cultivated for its robustness and versatility, it is traditionally processed into ropes, twine, canvases, and durable fabrics. Thanks to its natural strength, hemp fiber is widely used in weaving, agriculture, decoration, as well as in certain technical and maritime applications.
The stone-washed remnants are soft, even though the fabric retains a good level of stiffness. This involves a washing process in large machines with pumice or volcanic stones (generally) inside, which crush and tumble the fabric fibers.
